January Real Estate Report for Six County Metro Area of Atlanta, GA

For all single family homes in all price ranges in the six county metro area of Atlanta, Georgia, during January 2009:

The average sold price was $203,000.  This is a 25% decrease over January 2008.

The average active listing price was $391,000. This is a 2% increase over January 2008.

There were 29,759 homes for sale (17% decrease over January 2008 ).

1,260 homes sold and 2,402 homes went under contract.  One year ago, 1,953 homes sold (36% decline) and 2,751 homes went under contract (13% decline).

For single family homes over $1 million in the six county metro area of Atlanta, Georgia, during January 2009::

The average sold price was $1,357,000 (down 29% over January 2008 ).

The average listing price was $2,002,000 (up 7% over January 2008 ).

There were 1647 homes for sale (10% decline over January 2008 ).

11 homes sold and 28 homes went under contract. One year ago, 39 homes sold (72% decline) and 56 went under contract (50% decline).
