Sometimes “modern” seems a little too narrow of a category so I also like to think that I specialize in “design centric” properties, where thought and attention has been given to the design details of the residence. What goes into a modern or design centric homes are things like the position of the home on the building site, the way the house faces to allow the most extraordinary light to fall during each season, kind of windows and doors, materials and surfaces, lighting, and especially architectural details.
I plan to post on the Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty blog regularly about modern design for residential properties in Atlanta.
Today, as I was surveying Amberwood, an Atlanta neighborhood in Dekalb County near Clairmont and Briarcliff, I happened upon a property of significance that has recently come available on the market.
It is a Robert Green designed home built in 1963 with six bedrooms and five full bathrooms. It was lovingly restored by Mike Connor and Jeff Doud, and has recently been featured in Metropolitan Home. I took some snapshots of the exterior, which are seen below (especially the beautiful Japanese Gardens). If you would like more information about this property, or other modern homes in Atlanta, please contact me at debrajohnston@atlantafinehomes.com or 404.312.1959.
