The Urban Land Institute’s Senior Resident Fellow Steve Blank addressed topics such as the real estate market’s recovery and revival on July 21, 2009 at the Buckhead luxury mixed-use high-rise Sovereign located at 3344 Peachtree Road/Sovereign.
Blank shared his opinions on the real estate market as well as his job growth predictions. Blank said that he is confident that the FDIC will be hiring for numerous positions, bringing opportunity to an industry that was so negatively affected by the economic downturn. He predicts that job growth, especially in the financial industry, will lead to a recovery in the real estate market.
Blank was joined by a panel of local real estate experts who discussed local and regional trends. Experts included Michael McDonald, managing director of Eastdil Secured, Thad Ellis, vice-president of Cousins Properties and Thomas L. Coakley, regional director of MetLife.
The conference addressed topics including how job growth affects the real estate market, what it will take for the market to make a recovery and where we are today in the real estate cycle. Local panelists translated these topics to what they mean in our local and regional economies.
