Metro Atlanta ranked 112th among the top 366 cities in America in average income in 2008, the U.S. Commerce Department reported Thursday.
Per-capital personal income in the Atlanta area was $37,655 in 2008, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis said.
Atlanta’s average personal income dropped from $37,744 in 2007, but is up from $36,487 in 2006, BEA reported.
Per-person income fell 0.2 percent between 2007 and 2008, below the national average of 2.5 percent for U.S. cities.
Atlanta’s average income grew 3.4 percent in 2007 from 2006, versus the national city growth rate of 4.9 percent.
Total income in metro Atlanta was $202.4 billion in 2008, up 1.9 percent from 2008 and up 6.4 percent from 2007, BEA said.
