Lee Upshaw and wife, Sheila, knew what they wanted when they came across a traditional Georgian home in Powder Springs five years ago. Lee was part of the Atlanta Braves organization, and now owns a construction company.
The Tuscan-inspired home features six bedrooms, 5 1/2 bathrooms and a 3-car garage. The property sits on a wooded 1.5 acre lot.
Upshaw’s company, Millworks Construction, spent three years turning the home into a Tuscan-style residence with Old World ambiance. Guests enter through a solid, carved mahogany entry door into the home’s two-story foyer. “We chose a neutral color palette that included greens, browns and grays to give the home a rustic feel,” Sheila says. “We wanted to give the home a unique look by adding these custom niches that give you a sense that you are in Italy.” The couple studied Tuscan art and interior design and turned to Hannah Sophia Interiors for help. The Upshaws added tray ceilings and Tuscan-style hardware and lighting to the rest of the home, which has floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room.
The Upshaws added professional appliances, custom cabinets and granite countertops to the kitchen. “The kitchen is a central point to the home, and the wood beams make the area feel very cozy,” Sheila says.
