Last week, many of our Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty agents took a short coach ride down to a beautiful property for an evening hosted by Dianne Harnell Cohen and Sandra Storrar. After the agents traveled by coach bus to Serenbe, the evening began with touring available Serenbe properties in golf carts – learning about this unique community that focuses on sustainable development by only building on 30% of the land and saving 70% in preserved green space.  They viewed several of the resale cottages and homes that are all built to Earthcraft standards in addition to touring the Nest, the newest eco cottages close to the organic farm.  To end the evening, they were treated to dinner by the hosting agents, Dianne Harnell Cohen and Sandra Storrar at Dianne’s home.  One agent asked the hosts, why did you chose Serenbe? Here are their top ten reasons why they chose to call Serenbe home:

1.)When I first moved to Buckhead I didn’t want my neighbors ringing the doorbell and borrowing sugar, now I want to invite them to dinner.

2.).Allergies and smog became a constant theme,  now clean air and bright stars define my space.

3.)No more looking over my shoulder or watching out for cars on my morning run, now I smile when I see a deer leaping in front of me.

4.)I live in a community of 1000 acres, where 700 acres will be greenspace in perpetuity, with hiking trails, horseback riding trails, and waterfalls.

  1. 5.)I live in Chattahoochee Hills which looks and feels like the rolling hills of Virginia, but I am 22 minutes to the Atlanta airport and 35 minutes to the Atlanta Symphony and theatres.
  2. 6.)Serenbe has four planned hamlets – arts and culture; organic farming and agriculture; health and wellness, life long education.  I get to choose my environment and interests; to live and share them with young families, professionals, retirees, artists, singles and widows.

7.)I walk everywhere in the community – to the restaurants, art galleries, Saturday green market, The AJC rave review Serenbe Playhouse regional theatre and the hair salon.

8.)The Montessori school on property, the artist in residence program, the Sunday Interfaith Dialogue group, the horseback riding program at the barn and the Charter School movement offer a diversity of opportunities to be involved in if and when I wish.

9.)It’s safe…. The children can go anywhere by themselves…to the Blue Eyed Daisy for cookies, to the Treehouse playscape, to the trampoline by themselves or they can go to anyone’s house and just knock on the door. They absolutely love the children’s theatre productions of the Serenbe Playhouse in the woods at the Treehouse.

10.)And the best reason of all….. my grandchildren would rather come to what they call “Grammy’s Farm” than anywhere else!
