This morning I was fortunate to have the opportunity to sit down with chef Chris Hall of Local Three Kitchen & Bar, a new restaurant that has just opened in Buckhead. Local Three has taken over the spot once held by Joel Brasserie in the Piazza at Paces development. Chris Hall opened Local Three along with his partners Todd Mussman and Ryan Turner. Names sound familiar? They should, these same guys also run Muss & Turner’s in Smyrna.
The concept behind Local Three was to create a neighborhood restaurant where you can bring your family, dressed as you are, and have a wonderful meal and not have to pay a ton of money for it. Their menu is fresh, local when it can be, and most importantly, Seasonal. The menu will change regularly, at least once a month as well as featuring favorites from “Chef’s” bag of tricks. It’s also a great place for happy hour with over 100 beers both in the bottle and on draught, 12 white wines by the glass, 12 red wines by the glass, and about 50 bottles to choose from…not to mention an impressive liquor selection.
On Sundays Local Three will serve Brunch like no other. Diners will be waltzed through one of the finest kitchens in the South choosing biscuits, gravy, steak, eggs and all things that mean brunch literally right out of the oven. The amazing part…it’s $18.93 per person for as much as you can eat and half price for children under 10.
When you are there, be sure and look around the place. Everything has a story including the bar that was built from an oak tree that fell on Mt Paran Road, 3 tables built from an oak tree that fell on Peachtree Battle Ave. during the September 2009 floods, a table built from a 1979 Knights of Revelry Mardi Gras float, a “rural barcode” on the wall, and the majority of tables in the dining room were reclaimed from a home being torn down on Bolton Road. Tracy Hartley designed and built all of these pieces that make Local Three a very special place to spend time.
I can speak for the “North Avenue Upgrade”…It was fabulous and the service was personal…just what I’m looking for. Be sure and check them out. Their website www.LocalThree.com is under construction but does allow you to make a reservation through Open Table as well as view their menu.
