Founded in 1922, Springlake is a neighborhood filled with history in southwestern Buckhead. Bound by Howell Mill Rd on the west, Collier Rd on the south, Northside Dr on the east, and Longwood Dr on the north, Springlake is adjacent to Memorial Park, Wildwood and Collier Hills. The neighborhoods are close-knit communities filled with friendly families who live below beautiful, heavy tree canopies. Springlake is in a perfect setting as its convenient to urban areas including Midtown and Downtown, but feels quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of those areas.

The history within Springlake dates back to the Civil War and the Battle of Peachtree Creek. Springlake, Wildwood and Collier Hills residents still find Civil War remains and bullets in the backyards of homes that stretch across the seven acres where the battle was fought. For Buckhead agent Jennifer Hollingsworth, the history is quite personal. “Our old house still has the same front door my father put on it, with the same eagle door knocker and brass handle, in 1963. I remember standing in the front yard of that house with my mother, the day President Kennedy was assassinated. It is an historic neighborhood for Atlanta and for me personally.”
Most of the residences in Springlake are single-family homes with a few townhomes and condominiums. The area is served by some of Atlanta’s best public schools: Morris Brandon Elementary, Sutton Middle, and North Atlanta High School. Springlake is a social neighborhood with monthly cocktail parties, a garden club, and other events.
Springlake is convenient to many businesses at the intersection of Collier Road and Howell Mill Road including a grocery store, post office, Fellini’s Pizza Parlor and other restaurants. Just a short distance over I-75 is the District at Howell Mill and slightly further you will find the trendy West End development with clothing stores, home décor stores and renowned Atlanta restaurants. Two miles away is Piedmont Hospital, offering convenient and quality healthcare.
Within the area are several parks for residents to enjoy. Springlake’s own park and playground, Ellsworth Park, is a popular destination as well as Memorial Park, Ardmore Park and Beaverbrook Park. These are family-friendly areas where children play and adults exercise. There is a fierce-but-friendly summer whiffle ball league rivalry between the neighborhood associations that is contested at Beaverbrook Park.
