Serenbe

Located at the south end of Fulton County, Serenbe is a deliberately rural community convenient to the urban amenities of Atlanta.
Serenbe is found in the heart of the Chattahoochee Hill Country, 40,000 acres of rural Georgia approximately the size of Napa Valley, and one of the last undeveloped stretches of land in the Atlanta area.
The creators of Serenbe plan to protect this land from the typical growth patterns of urban sprawl. Serenbe is 35 minutes south of Midtown Atlanta off I-85 and only 20 minutes from Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.
Serenbe is designed to be a walkable neighborhood with homes and shops in a village like setting. Serenbe was built around four scheduled hamlets – each with its own commercial center – using ecologically sound sustainability principles. Residences include live/work spaces, townhomes, cottages and estate lots to be built on.
Served by the Fulton County Public School system, Serenbe looks forward to the new Charter School scheduled to open on the property in 2012. Also within Serenbe is The Children’s House, a Montessori school. Many residents also send their children to Atlanta’s renowned private school, Woodward Academy, which is only 20 minutes away.
Within the commercial areas of Serenbe, you will find shops, galleries, art programs, restaurants and a local organic farmers market.
Three distinct restaurants within Serenbe are The Daisy, a local gathering spot with a wonderful bakery, breakfast, lunch and dinner, The Farmhouse which features good old fashioned Southern Cooking, and The Hil features Chef Hilary White from Panos and Pauls fame who produces continental and farm to table cuisine.
Retail establishments include The Bilthouse, Blue Med Spa, Repurpose, The Paisley Salon, Bloom – a shop of unruly things, Me…Jane Wine specialties, Newington Gallery, Sara Anthony Photography, Serenbe Photography Center, Serenbe Playhouse – a regional professional theatre company, Serenbe Stables, and The Gallery.
Piedmont Hospital system is located in Fairburn and Newnan – each are 22 minutes from Serenbe. Serenbe has recently developed national attention.
Residents move here from all over the country. Many Atlanta residents begin with second “weekend” homes and then move to Serenbe full time. Here are two examples of Serenbe Homes:
The community is so remarkable that this year HGTV is building their Green Home giveaway home in Serenbe!
Chattahoochee Hills is an area out of which 60% will remain greenspace in perpetuity due to the plan to protect the land. Serenbe when built out will have 1000 acres, of which 70% will remain greenspace in perpetuity.
In Serenbe you can enjoy the outdoors throughout the greenspace, as there are nature trails, lakes, and preserved forestland.
Buckhead agent Dianne Harnell Cohen and her husband split their time between Serenbe and Midtown Atlanta. Dianne loves that “Serenbe is a new urban community, centered around arts and culture, health and wellness, agriculture and environment, and life long education. Trails abound and Saturday mornings at the local organic farm market, with coffee and home baked goods from the Hil is the way to start the weekend! But what makes this the most special place to live are the people…interested, engaged, caring and committed. Boredom is never an option.”
