FRIDAY

Dance: James Kudelka’s choreography is paired with the music of Johnny Cash in the Atlanta Ballet’s “The Man in Black.” Also on the program are “1st Flash” and the premiere of Atlanta choreographer Juel Lane’s “Moments of Dis.” Performances are at 8 p.m. March 23-24 and 2 p.m. March 24-25 at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, 2800 Cobb   Galleria Parkway, Atlanta. 770-916-2800, www.cobbenergycentre.com.

Music: The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra welcomes violinist Leonidas Kavakos as the soloist for Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3. Also on the program are Mozart’s Symphony No. 34 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4. Performances at 8 p.m. March 23-24 at Atlanta Symphony Hall.

Stage: “Motherhood the Musical” takes a tuneful and loving look at the blessings and perils of being a mom. It’s at the 14th Street Playhouse through May 20.

Stage: Live Arts Theatre presents the “Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon,” in which two narrators and several actors attempt to combine all 209 stories. The show runs March 23-25 at New Dawn Theater in Duluth.

Stage: “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” is a re-working of the popular Broadway musical for younger cast members and audiences It runs through March 25 at Act 3 Playhouse in  Sandy Springs.

Dance: Ballethnic Dance Co. puts a new spin on a classic with “Jazzy Sleeping Beauty.” Performances continues through March 25 at Georgia Tech’s Ferst Center for the Arts.

Stage: A group of British women fall under the spell of Italy in “Enchanted April.” The Lionheart Theatre Company production opens March 23 at the Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center and continues through April 8.

Stage: “Clyde ’n Bonnie: A Folktale” is Aurora Theatre’s musical take on the story of the infamous romancing  robbers. It runs through April 8 at the Lawrenceville venue.

Stage: Stage Door Players present the romantic comedy “Same Time, Next Year” at North DeKalb Cultural Arts Center in Dunwoody through April 8.

Stage: After being swept away from her parents, Little Noodle must journey across the grocery store to find her way home in “Adventures of Little Noodle.” It continues through April 1 at the Center for Puppetry Arts.

Stage: In “I Just Stopped By to See the Man,” three lost souls collide with a musical landscape choked with the loss   and beauty of the Delta blues. The show continues  through April 8 at  the Alliance Theatre.

Stage: The Atlanta Shakespeare Company continues its chronological run through the Bard’s comedies with “The Merry Wives of Windsor.” The show continues through April 1 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern in Atlanta.

Stage: The self-described “giant nerds” at Dad’s Garage explore the eccentric and outlandish realm of sci-fi fandom in “Wrath of Con.” It runs through March 30.

Stage, families: A swamp chorus sings backup in “Petite Rouge,” a foot-stomping, family-friendly zydeco musical steeped in hot sauce  and based on the tale of Little Red Riding Hood. The Synchronicity Theatre production runs through March 25 at 7 Stages  in Little  Five Points.

Flowers: Spring is in the air and it’s popping out of the ground at the Atlanta Botanical Garden during “Atlanta Blooms.” Catch the profusion of hyacinths, crocuses, tulips and daffodils at    this second annual floral tribute to the season of rebirth. Check the Garden’s website to see what’s in bloom. The event continues through April 29.

SATURDAY

Festival: Celebrate the gorgeous blooms of spring at the Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival and enjoy live entertainment, arts and crafts, games and more. It’s happening 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 24 and 25 at the Georgia  International Horse  Park.

Festival, arts: The Atlanta Francophonie Festival celebrates French language and culture at events at various venues  around town, including the High Museum of Art and the Rialto Center for  the Arts. The fest continues through March 31. Many events are free;  tickets required for others. Check the fest’s website for details.

Music: The Moody Blues are marking the 45th anniversary of the classic “Days of Future Passed” with a tour that brings the band to the Fox Theatre at 8 p.m. March 24. See our interview with guitarist and vocalist Justin Hayward.

Festival: Greenprints Streetfest 2012 will feature live music, an adventure race, an artists market and more. The race begins at 7 a.m. March 24 in downtown Woodstock.

Film: “A Day with La Baker” offers screenings of the classic films of Josephine Baker beginning at noon March 24 at the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History.

Music: Anoushka Shankar forges new connections between east and west with “Born in India, Raised in Spain: Flamenco’s Journey.” The performance begins at 8 p.m. March 24 at the Rialto  Center for the Arts.

Music: Sharon Isbin is one of the finest classical guitarists performing today and she’ll be at Spivey Hall at 8:15 p.m. March 24.

Music, stage: The Atlanta Opera offers another community performance of its commissioned opera “Rabbit Tales,” based on the work of Joel Chandler Harris, at 11 a.m. March 24 at the Fulton County Arts & Culture’s Southwest  Arts Center.

Music: Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde present “British Invasion II,” which includes a wide variety of music from Britten to the Beatles and Purcell to Coldplay. The performance begins at 8 p.m. March 24 at Druid  Hills Baptist  Church.

Stage: “Guys and Dolls Jr.” is presented by Jerry’s Habima Theatre, a theatrical company featuring actors with developmental disabilities, directed and produced by professionals. Performances continue through April 1 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta’s Morris & Rae Frank Theatre in Dunwoody.

Comedy: Comedian and “Web Soup” and “Attack of the Show” host Chris Hardwick brings his Nerdist Podcast Live tour to the Variety Playhouse at 8 p.m. March 24.

SUNDAY

Party: The Museum of Design Atlanta Birthday Celebration will feature the Imperial OPA Circus. The party happens 1-4 p.m. March 25.

Music: The Atlanta Sacred Chorale will perform all of Handel’s beloved oratorio “Messiah” at 4 p.m. March 25 at Emory University’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

Music: The Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra presents “Crescendo,” which includes Robert Spano conducting Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1. The performance is at 2 p.m. March 25 at Atlanta Symphony Hall.

Music: Callanwolde Concert Band continues its 40th season with “Roman Carnival ” — a program that includes works by Berlioz, Bernstein and Cole Porter — at 2 p.m. March 25 at Callanwolde  Fine Arts  Center.

Music: The Atlanta Balalaika Society is joined by the children’s Ensemble Kalinka at 5 p.m. March 25 at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody.
