Titanic: The Musical at Fabrefaction Theatre Company

FRIDAY

Festival: The Dunwoody Preservation Trust presents its annual Lemonade Days fundraiser, which features carnival rides and games, live entertainment and a bicycle ride around Dunwoody. The fest continues through April 22 at Brook Run Park.

Festival: This weekend marks the 76th edition of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, the city’s signature springtime event. Piedmont Park will be packed with people, art, crafts, music and more. It begins at noon April 20 and continues at 10 a.m. April 21 and 22.

Festival, music: The SweetWater 420 Fest offers music from Maceo Parker, Perpetual Groove, Donna The Buffalo, the Mickey Hart Band, Soulive and many more is the big draw, but the festival also offers comedy, kids’ activities and a cornhole tournament. The fest runs 4:20-11 p.m. April 20, noon-10 p.m. April 21 and 12:30-7 p.m. April 22 in Candler Park.

Music: Actor, model and musician Tyrese is back making music with a new album, “Open Invitation,” and a tour that brings him to the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center at 8 p.m. April 20.

Stage: Fabrefaction Theatre Company presents “Titanic: The Musical.” It continues through April 29. Read a review of the production.

Stage: Georgia Ensemble Theatre presents “Ring of Fire,” a musical celebrating the songs of Johnny Cash. The show runs through April 29 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. See our review of the production.

Stage: Catch the world premiere of “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” a new musical by Stephen King and John Mellencamp, directed by Susan V.   Booth with musical direction from T Bone Burnett. It continues through   May 13 at the Alliance Theatre.

Stage: “Speed-the-Plow,” David Mamet’s look at the ruthlessness of the movie industry, is the   latest production from Pinch ’n Ouch Theatre. It continues through April   29 at the company’s new home at 1085 Ponce de Leon Ave. in  Atlanta.

Stage: Center for Puppetry Arts presents a new take on “Peter Pan” adapted and directed by Michael Haverty. It runs through May 27.

Stage: “Much Ado About Nothing” is the latest installment in the Atlanta Shakespeare Company’s   chronological run through the Bard’s comedies. It continues through   April 29 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.

History, visual arts: “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” is an updated version of an exhibit that had an earlier run at the   Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. It features more than 200   artifacts recovered from the wreckage of the ill-fated ocean liner. Festival: Grab a turkey leg and take a trip back in time with the knights and maidens of the Georgia Renaissance Festival. The fest continues through June 3 in Fairburn (just off of I-85 at Exit 61).

SATURDAY

Festival: McDonough’s historic square is the scene the Spring ArtFest. Among the highlights is a contest to determine who makes the tastiest pound cake. The fest runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 21.

Festival, music: The 36th annual WRFG Peachblossom Bluegrass Festival, a fundraiser for Atlanta’s eclectic community radio station, will fill the air around Clarkston Community Center with the sound of banjos and fiddles. It kicks off at 11 a.m. April 21.

Home and garden: Atlanta Symphony Associates’ 42nd Annual Decorators’ Show House and Gardens is Phillip Trammel Shutze’s Knollwood Estate. The house is on view April 21 through May 13. $5 parking is available at St. Regis Atlanta.

Festival: Fulton Science Academy International Heritage Festival brings  arts and crafts,  live music, cultural dancers and acts and   foods from all over the world to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. April 21.

Music: Athens’ Drive-By Truckers have released album after album of music that  has given Southern rock a jolt of heart,  soul and wisdom. The band returns to the Tabernacle this weekend. Megafaun opens the show, which begins at 8 p.m. April 21.

Music: The Brentano String Quartet will present their “Fragments” program, for which the group commissioned pieces by contemporary composers that were inspired by works, often unfinished, of early composers. The concert begins at 8:15 p.m. April 21 at Spivey Hall in Morrow.

Stage: “Roughing It: An Evening with Mark Twain” features actor Kurt Sutton as the great American author and humorist. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. April 21 at the  City Center Auditorium in Woodstock.

SUNDAY

Music: Sounds of the Spirit Concert Series presents the Atlanta Chamber Players at 4 p.m. April 22 at Roswell United Methodist Church.

Music: The 110 voices of the Georgia Festival Chorus come together to celebrate “The Majesty and Glory of Sacred Music”. The performance begins at 6 p.m. April 22 at the First Baptist Church Of Smyrna.

Music: ArtSSpring presents a concert from Franklin Pond Quartet at 7:30 p.m. April 22 at the Abernathy Arts Center in Sandy Springs.
