FRIDAY

Performing arts, family, recreation: The Shriners have put together 10 days of family fun in the annual Yaarab Shrine Circus and Carnival, which combines a carnival midway with daily circus shows. It runs April 27 through May 6 at Marietta’s Jim R. Miller Park.

Stage: The musical “Les Miserables,” based on the tale of poverty and redemption by Victor Hugo, returns to the Fox Theatre through April 29.

Stage: Act3 Productions presents “Steel Magnolias,” Robert Harling’s beloved tale of strong Southern women, in the company’s Sandy Springs home April 27 through May 6.

Stage: Michael Frayn’s Tony Award-winning play “Copenhagen” was inspired by a meeting between physicists Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg in 1941. It runs April 27-May 20 at Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates.

Dance: Emory Dance Company offers its Spring Concert April 27 and 28 at Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

Stage: Performing Arts North’s latest production is Tennessee Williams’ classic drama “The Glass Menagerie.” It continues through May 5 at the Dancing Goat Theatre in Johns Creek.

Stage: “Seussical the Musical” gives the beloved work of Dr. Seuss a tuneful boost. The CYT Atlanta production runs April 27 through May 6 at Milton Center Theater in Alpharetta.

Festival: Lebowski Fest is a celebration of all things related to the 1998 Coen brothers cult comedy, “The Big Lebowski.” It takes place at 8 p.m. April 27 at the Masquerade and at 7 p.m. April 28 at 300 Atlanta Bowling.

Music: Celtic Roots of Southern Music offers a weekend of performances, presentations and conversations exploring the connections between the traditional music of Ireland, Scotland and the American South. April 27-29 at Emory University’s Cannon Chapel.

Music: Pianist Behzod Abduraimov joins the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra for  Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1. The orchestra, under the direction of Michael Christie, also performs Schubert’s Symphony No. 8. Performances are at 8 p.m. April 27-28 at Atlanta Symphony Hall.

Stage: Fabrefaction Theatre Company presents “Titanic: The Musical.” It continues through April 29. Read our review of the production.

Stage: “Grease” is the word as the Atlanta Lyric Theatre presents the ’50s-set musical at the  Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta through May 6.

Stage: Process Theatre Company puts a gender-bending twist on the classic “Auntie Mame,” with Atlanta playwright and actor Topher Payne taking on the title   role. The show continues through May 5 at OnStage   Atlanta in Decatur.

Stage: Georgia Ensemble Theatre presents “Ring of Fire,” a musical celebrating the songs of Johnny Cash. The show runs through April 29 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. See our review of the production.

Stage: “A Wrinkle in Time,” based on the award-winning children’s sci-fi adventure novel by   Madeleine L’Engle, is the latest production from Theatrical Outfit. The   show runs through May 6 at the Balzer Theater at Herrens in downtown   Atlanta. See our review of the production.

Stage: Catch the world premiere of “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” a new musical by Stephen King and John Mellencamp, directed by Susan V.    Booth with musical direction from T Bone Burnett. It continues  through   May 13 at the Alliance Theatre.

Stage: “Speed-the-Plow,” David Mamet’s look at the ruthlessness of the movie industry, is the    latest production from Pinch ’n Ouch Theatre. It continues through April    29 at the company’s new home at 1085 Ponce de Leon Ave. in  Atlanta.

Stage: Center for Puppetry Arts presents a new take on “Peter Pan” adapted and directed by Michael Haverty. It runs through May 27.

Stage: “Much Ado About Nothing” is the latest installment in the Atlanta Shakespeare Company’s    chronological run through the Bard’s comedies. It continues through    April 29 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.

SATURDAY

Ballet: Praise In Motion’s 20th Anniversary Concert Saturday, April 28th at 2:30 and 7:30 Southern Poly Technic University Marietta, GA

Festival: The shady streets of one of Atlanta’s most beautiful and historic neighborhoods will be lined with art and filled with the sound of music at the Inman Park Festival on April 28 and 29. Don’t miss the colorful parade.

Music: The long-absent Brian Wilson is back on board for the Beach Boys latest tour, which brings together all of the surviving original members. They’ll play Chastain Park Amphitheatre at 8 p.m. April 28.

Stage, music: The Atlanta Opera stages Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” the composer’s beloved and melodic tale of the romantic exploits of the beguiling scoundrel Don Juan. Shows are at 8 p.m. April 28 and May 4; 7:30 p.m. May 1; and 3 p.m. May 6 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Festival: You’ll find art, live music, wine tastings, home tours, kids activities and more at the Sterling on the Lake Arts Fest. The fest runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 28 at Sterling on the Lake in Flowery Branch.

Pets, recreation: The City of Duluth Parks and Recreation Department and the Duluth Historical Society invites the public to the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Chattapoochee Dog Park Grand Opening. It happens at 10 a.m. April 28 at Rogers Bridge Park.

Music: LuLu Bash 2012 will feature performances by Daddy Yankee, Plan B, Frank Reyes, Tono Rosario, Fuego and Andy Boy. The music begins at 6:30 p.m. April 28 at Gwinnett Arena in Duluth.

Music: The Atlanta Boy Choir Spring Concert begins at 7:30 p.m. April 28 at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.

SUNDAY

Music: Atlanta Symphony Orchestra presents “The Remarkable Farkle McBride.” This adaptation for orchestra of actor John Lithgow’s children’s book about a child prodigy brings the sounds and rhythms of an orchestra to life. Performances at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. April 29 at Atlanta Symphony Hall.

Music: Israeli singer-songwriter David Broza comes to the Rialto Center for the Arts at 7 p.m. April 29.
