Take a home tour! Presendted by the Roswell Women’s Club, the 16th Annual Showcase Home Tour features the home of retired Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Mark Wholers and family through May 20. After being destroyed by a fire in 2011, the home has rebuilt and designed with a purpose. Music: The 16th Annual River Revival will feature music from rock cellist Ben Sollee and many others. The fundraising event for the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper takes place 5-11 p.m. May 4 at Park Tavern at Piedmont Park.
Stage: The Atlanta Shakespeare Company takes a break in its chronological run through the Bard’s comedies to take on “Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales.” It runs through May 27 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.
Stage: Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville stages Ken Ludwig’s country club-set farce “The Fox on the Fairway.” It runs through May 27.
Stage: The lives of a young couple take a sharp turn when the husband is diagnosed with a terminal illness and the wife, desperate for money to pay for his care, devises a clever scheme that goes horribly awry in “Bonneville Love,” a dark comedy by local playwright Raymond Fast. the Polk Street Players production opens May 4 and continues through May 19 at St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta.
Music: The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to the “Music of Motown” at 8 p.m. May 4-5 at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
Performing arts, family, recreation: The Shriners have put together 10 days of family fun in the annual Yaarab Shrine Circus and Carnival, which combines a carnival midway with daily circus shows. It runs through May 6 at Marietta’s Jim R. Miller Park.
Stage: The North Fulton Drama Club presents a steampunk take on the Bard’s sea-centric “The Tempest.” It continues through May 12. at Barrington Hall in Roswell.
Stage: Act3 Productions presents “Steel Magnolias,” Robert Harling’s beloved tale of strong Southern women, in the company’s Sandy Springs home through May 6.
Stage: Michael Frayn’s Tony Award-winning play “Copenhagen” was inspired by a meeting between physicists Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg in 1941. It runs through May 20 at Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates.
Stage: Performing Arts North’s latest production is Tennessee Williams’ classic drama “The Glass Menagerie.” It continues through May 5 at the Dancing Goat Theatre in Johns Creek.
Stage: “Seussical the Musical” gives the beloved work of Dr. Seuss a tuneful boost. The CYT Atlanta production runs through May 6 at Milton Center Theater in Alpharetta.
Stage: “Grease” is the word as the Atlanta Lyric Theatre presents the ’50s-set musical at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta through May 6.
Stage: Process Theatre Company puts a gender-bending twist on the classic “Auntie Mame,” with Atlanta playwright and actor Topher Payne taking on the title role. The show continues through May 5 at OnStage Atlanta in Decatur.
Stage: “A Wrinkle in Time,” based on the award-winning children’s sci-fi adventure novel by Madeleine L’Engle, is the latest production from Theatrical Outfit. The show runs through May 6 at the Balzer Theater at Herrens in downtown Atlanta. See our review of the production.
Stage: Catch the world premiere of “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” a new musical by Stephen King and John Mellencamp, directed by Susan V. Booth with musical direction from T Bone Burnett. It continues through May 13 at the Alliance Theatre.
Stage: “Speed-the-Plow,” David Mamet’s look at the ruthlessness of the movie industry, is the latest production from Pinch ’n Ouch Theatre. It continues through May 5 at the company’s new home at 1085 Ponce de Leon Ave. in Atlanta.
Stage: Center for Puppetry Arts presents a new take on “Peter Pan” adapted and directed by Michael Haverty. It runs through May 27.
History, visual arts: “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” is an updated version of an exhibit that had an earlier run at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. It features more than 200 artifacts recovered from the wreckage of the ill-fated ocean liner. Festival: Grab a turkey leg and take a trip back in time with the knights and maidens of the Georgia Renaissance Festival. The fest continues through June 3 in Fairburn (just off of I-85 at Exit 61).
Stage, music: The Atlanta Opera stages Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” the composer’s beloved and melodic tale of the romantic exploits of the beguiling scoundrel Don Juan. Shows are at 8 p.m. May 4 and 3 p.m. May 6 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.
SATURDAY Festival: Avondale Estates is home to the burgeoning Art-B-Que, a little festival that blends barbecue, art and a fine and diverse line-up of live music. It opens at 10 a.m. May 5 and 6.
Festival: The annual Snellville Days celebration kicks off with a parade at 9:30 a.m. May 5. Jordan Rager, recently on “The Voice,” is grand marshal. The festival takes place at Briscoe Park beginning at 10 a.m. May 5 and noon May 6.
Festival: More than 75 percent of the artists showcasing work at the third annual Buckhead Spring Arts & Crafts Festival in Chastain Park are from Georgia. The festival begins at 10 a.m. May 5 and 11 a.m. May 6.
Festival, pets: The Gwinnett Humane Society-sponsored PAWfest 2012 will offer vendors, contests, kids’ activities, canine agility demonstrations and much more. It all happens 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 5 in Tribble Mill Park in Lawrenceville.
Fundraiser, families: The Drake Walk raises money for the Drake House, a nonprofit that provides short-term crisis housing for homeless mothers and their kids. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. May 5 at Roswell United Methodist Church and ends at a family-friendly festival in downtown Roswell.
Festival: Experience a juried fine arts market, a children’s art park and a day filled with live performances at Barefoot in the Park, which takes place 10 a.m. May 5-6 on the Duluth Town Green.
Festival: Arts and crafts, games, food and entertainment will fill Starr Park as the City of Forest Park hosts the annual Swing into Spring Festival. The fun begins at 11 a.m. and continues until 6 p.m.
Festival, food: The Cumming Food and Wine Festival makes its debut with samples from many area restaurants. The 21-and-over event happens 5-8 p.m. May 5 at the Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming.
Music: The Ludwig Symphony Orchestra offers “A Cherry Blossom Mother’s Day Tribute” at 7:30 p.m. May 5 at the Alpharetta High School Auditorium.
SUNDAY Festival: The Dunwoody Wildcat Band Boosters’ Ice Cream Festival will raise money for the band program with delicious creamy treats. It happens at the Dunwoody Farmhouse at 2 p.m. May 6.
Music: The Musical Box offers an exclusive re-creation Of Genesis’ final album with Peter Gabriel, “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway,” authorized by Gabriel. The concert begins at 8 p.m. May 6 at the Variety Playhouse.
Music: The Choral Guild of Atlanta presents “Music of Georgia: The Past Meets the Present,” a sampling of Georgia-related music from the Civil War era through current day.
Music: The 110 voices of the Georgia Festival Chorus come together to celebrate “The Majesty and Glory of Sacred Music”. The performance begins at 7 p.m. May 6. at Northside United Methodist Church.
