This central Buckhead neighborhood was developed in the late 1920s, when Eugene Haynes began subdividing his Haynes Manor estate. From Peachtree Road you enter this spectacular neighborhood along the beautiful tree-lined Peachtree Battle Parkway. Many of the homes are English and French in style giving the area a wonderful, European flavor. Buckhead agent Bee Breitenbach, a native of Haynes Manor and Peachtree Battle Avenue, says “the huge Magnolias and trees in the park, beautiful and historic homes, wide veranda-like streets, and the proximity to the Bobby Jones and Bitsy Grant facilities make this neighborhood one of the most desirable in Atlanta.”
The area holds substantial historic significance. The parkway, once known as Battle Avenue, honors the Civil War “Battle of Peachtree Creek” in which thousands died. Haynes Manor is also the site of some of Atlanta’s most famous architects’ work including Neel Reid, Virgil Shutze, Lewis and Crook and Clem Ford. While most of the homes are single-family homes, there are also a few townhome communities. The public schools are award-winning E. Rivers Elementary School, Sutton Middle School and North Atlanta High School. Many Buckhead private schools are also convenient to this neighborhood.
Peachtree Creek, Peachtree Street, West Wesley and Northside Drive border Haynes Manor, located on the southern end of Buckhead and just north of Midtown. The main thoroughfare is Peachtree Battle Avenue, which leads to the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center, a one-stop center for the area with grocery stores, restaurants, drug stores and gift and clothing boutiques. Some of Atlanta’s finest dining lines nearby Peachtree Street. Piedmont Hospital offers convenience to doctors, specialists, and quality healthcare. Residents of Haynes Manor can be found enjoying the outdoors along Peachtree Creek and also close by is Atlanta Memorial Park with walking trails, a playground, the Bobby Jones golf course and Bitsy Grant Tennis Center.
This picturesque neighborhood is characterized by rolling hills, huge trees and a lush landscape, giving some of Atlanta’s oldest and most beautiful homes a gorgeous backdrop. Buckhead agent Ann Hopkins states, “many homeowners move and stay here for a lifetime.”
