Peachtree Heights, one of Atlanta’s historic neighborhoods, was laid out in 1908 by Etreus Rivers, a railroad man turned real estate developer, for whom E. Rivers School is named. Conveniently located in the heart of Buckhead – snuggled in east of Peachtree Rd. between Lindbergh Drive on the south, East Wesley on the north, and Sharondale Drive on the east – this beautiful residential area is filled with tree-lined streets and a mixture of Tudors, Cape Cods, bungalows, and cottages.
Peachtree Heights is a tight-knit community that can feel both urban and suburban. You will find single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums all within its borders. The public schools include Garden Hills Elementary, Sutton Middle School, and North Atlanta High School. Not far are some of Atlanta’s renowned private schools including Atlanta International School and Christ the King School.
Convenient to the Buckhead business district, Peachtree Heights is also known for its abundance of small neighborhood restaurants. Favorites include Zoe’s, Café Lapin, Paul’s, The Tree House, Georgia Grill and H&F Bottle Co. Nearby Peachtree Battle Shopping Center is home to a variety of upscale boutiques, restaurants, and grocery. Piedmont Hospital and the world-renowned Shepherd Spinal Center are also convenient at Peachtree Road.
In the center of Peachtree Heights is an exquisite little lake and park known as “The Duck Pond.” Buckhead agent Bee Breitenbach remembers “as children we used to free our little yellow Easter ducklings there, which is where I think the nickname originated.” Today it is home to a host of friendly ducks, Canadian geese, an occasional crane, turtles sunning on the banks, neighborhood dogs, babies, family picnics and people just relaxing. There are annual ice cream socials, garden parties, pumpkin carving, and lots of other fun events for neighborhood residents.
Peachtree Heights has a community feel with an active neighborhood association. Its ideal location and atmosphere make Peachtree Heights a coveted Buckhead neighborhood.
Peachtree Heights has beautiful homes of many styles and sizes. Here is a sample:
