Festival, families: Decatur Beach Party will bring 60 tons of sand, a kids’ boardwalk with games, two live bands (including Yacht Rock Schooner), dancing on the plaza, a food court and more to the Old Courthouse Square from 5-11 p.m. June 15.
Parade, visual arts: Skate Peachtree will kick off for the “Skate It or Hang It!? The Evolution of Skateboard Art” exhibition at the Museum of Design Atlanta. The event begins with a skateboard parade from the intersection of Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue to the museum. Participants gather at 10:30 a.m. June 16; parade begins at 11 a.m.
Music: Atlanta Fest fills Stone Mountain Park with contemporary Christian music featuring Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp and many more June 14-16.
Music: Jazz on the Lawn presents the Latin jazz of Serenata on the grounds of the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. June 15.
Festival, music: The Red Stripe Midsummer Music & Food Festival brings headliners G. Love and Special Sauce, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and more to Candler Park. Check out Food Truck Happy Hour and lots of local musicians 4-11 p.m. June 15. The main event is noon-11 p.m. June 16.
Stage: Atlanta Lyric Theatre presents “Gypsy,” the tuneful tale of stage mother Rose and her ambitious plans for her singing and dancing daughters June and Louise. It opens June 15 and runs through July 1 at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta.
Community: The Cobb County NAACP presents its ninth annual Juneteenth Celebration, which commemorates the end of slavery. The event happens 7-11 p.m. June 15 and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. June 16 at Glover Park in Marietta.
Stage: Fellowship Performing Arts presents the stage version of the C.S. Lewis novel “The Screwtape Letters.” It continues through June 17 on the Alliance Stage at the Woodruff Arts Center.
Stage: “Summer Harvest 2012″ is a collection of 10-minute plays by local playwrights presented by Onion Man Productions. It runs through June 24 at Lionheart Theatre in Norcross.
Stage: From the mind of Center for Puppetry Arts artistic director Jon Ludwig comes “The Little Pirate Mermaid,” a seafaring adventure based on Hans Christian Andersen’s tale with a swashbuckling musical twist. It continues through July 15.
Stage: “Traffik” is a theatre piece by Jacquay Waller exploring the underworld of human trafficking in our society. See it at 14th Street Playhouse through June 24.
Stage: Horizon Theatre Company stages the world premiere of “The Waffle Palace: Smothered, Covered and Scattered 24/7/365,” a new play by by Larry Larson and Eddie Levi Lee. It runs through July 1. Take a look at our preview of the show.
Visual arts: “From Tree to Art” is a solo exhibition by North Carolina wood turner Joe Ruminski. It continues through June 29 at 2 Rules Fine Art in Marietta.
Stage: The Atlanta Shakespeare Company continues its chronological run through the Bard’s comedies with “As You Like It.” It runs through June 24 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.
Stage: The jokers at Dad’s Garage offer up the premiere of a new original show, “Musicals Suck, The Musical.” It runs though June 23.
Stage: Serenbe Playhouse in Palmetto debuts a new adaptation of the beloved Lewis Carroll tale “Alice in Wonderland.” It continues through July 28.
History, visual arts: “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” is an updated version of an exhibit that had an earlier run at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. It features more than 200 artifacts recovered from the wreckage of the ill-fated ocean liner. See our preview of the show, which is on view at the Premier Exhibition Center at Atlantic Station.
Visual arts: In “Create, Destroy, Rebuild,” artists are asked to take a completed work (either old or new), destroy it in whatever fashion they wish, and then re-assemble the remains to create a new piece of art. It continues through June 30 at Beep Beep Gallery.

Sports, music: The Atlanta Braves meet the Baltimore Orioles this weekend. After Saturday’s 7:15 p.m. game, Decatur native and Grammy-wnning rapper B.o.B will perform at Turner Field.
Festival, pets: The Humane Society of Forsyth County hosts the Mutts & More Festival, where you’ll find pet adoptions, demos, vendors, live music, games and more. It starts at 10 a.m. June 16 in Fowler Park in Cumming.
Festival: BluesBerry Festival and Beer Fest gets under way when local shops open at 10 a.m. with blueberry treats to sample. The festival proper gets going at noon June 16 on South Peachtree Street in Norcross.
Music: The Georgia Music Awards will honor local talent beginning at 6 p.m. June 16 at the Buckhead Theatre.
Comedy: Former D-Lister and current talk show host Kathy Griffin brings her distinctive comedy to the Fox Theatre for two shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m. June 16.

Music: 99X Unplugged in the Park presents Athens bluegrass outfit Packway Handle Band at 6 p.m. June 17 at Park Tavern.
