Concert: Marietta Square, Glover Park.  Yacht Rock Schooner (Party Rock)  Concert starts at 8:00pm

Fair: Fayette County Fair continues through Sept. 3 at the Kiwanis Fairground in Fayetteville.

Festival: The City of Kennesaw’s Pigs and Peaches BBQ Festival celebrates two of Georgia’s favorite things. It takes place 6 to 11 p.m. Aug. 24 and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. at Adams Park.

Music: Country icon Loretta Lynn plays Chastain Park Amphitheatre this weekend. Atlanta’s Sonia Leigh opens the show at 8 p.m. Aug. 24. Check out the interview with the living legend.

Movie: “The Amazing Spider-Man” screens as part of the 2012 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Fox Theatre.

Stage: Born into a Hasidic family in post-World War II Brooklyn, Asher Lev’s artistic genius threatens to estrange him from his parents and his observant Jewish community in Theatrical Outfit’s “My Name is Asher Lev.” It continues through Sept. 16 at the Balzer Theater at Herren’s.

Stage: In the Polk Street Players’ fantasy farce “Dream Lover,” a “football widow” dreams up a Latin lover. The show opens Aug. 24 and continues through Sept. 8 at St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta.

Stage: Actor’s Express presents the musical version of “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” It previews Aug. 24 and opens Aug. 25. The show continues through Oct. 7 at the King Plow Arts Center.

Stage: Juggling, high-flying acrobatics, balancing, elegant aerial choreography and comedy come together in “Cirque Motion – Awaken.” It runs Aug. 24-26 at 14th Street Playhouse.

Stage: The Atlanta Shakespeare Company offers an updated take on “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).” It continues through Sept. 2 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.

Stage: “Radio T.B.S.” spotlights the folks at the Luna Del Mar Manufactured Home Oasis and Monkey Empire. The comedy is the latest production from the Pumphouse Players. It runs through Aug. 25 at Legion Theatre in Cartersville.

Stage: Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville offers a fresh take on “Sweet Charity,” the classic musical best known for the songs “Big Spender” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now.” It runs through Sept. 2.

Stage: Revisit a slew of childhood favorites with the Center for Puppetry Arts’ take on “The Tortoise, the Hare and other Aesop’s Fables.” It continues through Sept. 9.

Stage: Atlanta Lyric Theatre presents “Legally Blonde: The Musical,” which is  based on the 2001 comedy that starred Reese Witherspoon as a spurned woman who follows her ex to law school. The show continues through Aug. 26 at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre at the Cobb Civic Center Complex in Marietta.

Stage: “Avenue Q,” the puppet musical for grown-ups, is being presented by Next Stage Theatre on the Alley Stage at the former Theatre of the Square location in Marietta. It runs through Aug. 25.

Stage: In “Private Eyes,” nothing is ever quite what it seems. This comedy of suspicion was written by Steven Dietz and is being produced by the Fern Theatre Company at 7 Stages through Aug. 25.

SATURDAY

Concert: Marietta Square, Glover Park.  GSO Jazz (Jazz)  Concert starts at 8:00pm
Festival, families: Learn about animals of all sorts at the annual Big Haynes Creek Wildlife Festival. It happens 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 25-26 at the Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers.

Nature, families: Get up close and personal with the creatures that crawl at the Cochran Mill Nature Center’s Snake Day 2012 in Palmetto. It starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 25.

Festival: Enjoy a weekend packed with live music, the Corks & Forks food and wine event, lots of activities and entertainment for the kids and a 5K run at the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival, which begins at 10 a.m. Aug. 25 and 11 a.m. Aug. 26.

SUNDAY
Festival: Great music and tasty food are among the highlights of the 12th edition of the Festival Peachtree Latino. The international gathering happens in Piedmont Park 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 26.

Food, festival: Sample more than 100 flavors at the 8th annual Miss Mary’s Ice Cream Crankin’ from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 on the 600 block of Atlanta Street in downtown Roswell.
