The Murphey Candler neighborhood and its park originated from the donation of 135 acres of land to Dekalb County in the 1950s and was named after the late Charles Murphey Candler, a highly respected state Representative, state Senator and good friend of one of the land donors. Located inside I-285, only minutes from the Perimeter business and shopping area, Murphey Candler consists of almost 400 homes in and around Murphey Candler Park.
