Located along the border where Buckhead meets Midtown is the beautiful historic neighborhood of Collier Hills. It is one of the city’s favorite places to live for a number of reasons.
1. Location
Atlanta Memorial Park borders Collier Hills to the north, while Interstate 75 borders the neighborhood to the south. Tanyard Creek Park forms the eastern border, while Northside Drive forms the western border. Buckhead is on one side, Midtown on the other, and almost all of Atlanta’s employers, shopping and dining opportunities, and entertainment facilities are within a quick drive. 2. History
If a neighborhood with historic charm and character is important, Collier Hills fits the bill. A marker stands today where two Creek Native American trails, the Echota and the Peachtree, intersected. Later, the land belonged to the Andrew Jackson Collier family, and in July 1864, it served as the site of a Civil War battle. The neighborhood itself was founded in 1941.
3. Homes
Homes in Collier Park typically fall between $400,000 and $900,000, and many of them were built just after World War II. Many of those historic homes have since been updated. A few newer properties are also scattered throughout the area. Styles here include foursquare, cottage, bungalow, traditional two-story and ranch.
4. Yards
One reason people fall in love with Collier Hills is the type of lot on which these beautiful home sit. Expect larger lots than you may find in other parts of the city, and expect them to be wooded and well-landscaped with mature trees and shrubs. Students who live in Collier Hills will attend some of the city of Atlanta’s top public schools, including E. Rivers Elementary, Sutton Middle and Northside High. All three schools are highly-sought after International Baccalaureate schools.

Residents of Collier Hills enjoy convenient access to shopping and dining destinations. Just outside the neighborhood to the east, you will find and assortment of popular restaurants like R. Thomas Deluxe Grill, Watershed, Uncle Julio’s and Egg Harbor Café. The Howell Mill Square Shopping Center is just cross Interstate 75 from Collier Hills, and some of the most famous shopping destinations in the country, including Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza are just minutes to the north. Bennett Street, one of the most popular places to buy antiques and artwork in the city, is just next to the neighborhood.
Head a few minutes south to find even more exciting destinations and plenty of culture and entertainment at places like the Fox Theatre, the High Museum of Art and the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
7. Parks
Collier Hills is surrounded by parks with beautiful scenery and plenty of fun things to do. The Atlanta BeltLine multi-use trail runs through Tanyard Creek Park to the east. The park sits on 14.5 acres of historic landmarks, a creek and a playground. The 1-acre Ardmore Park sits within the community. Just north of Collier Hills is Atlanta Memorial Park, one of Atlanta’s biggest parks at 199 acres. It is home to the famous Bitsy Grant Tennis Center, as well as the Bobby Jones Golf Course.
8. Medical Care
When it comes to medical care, Collier Hills may just be one of the luckiest neighborhoods in Atlanta. Residents can practically walk to Piedmont Hospital which sits just to the west.
