Susie is a native of Indianapolis and moved to Atlanta to attend an Art and Fashion Design College, where she instantly fell in love with the beauty and charm of the South. Susie was a co-founder of Van Michael Salons, an enterprise that expanded into a multimillion-dollar business with locations throughout Atlanta and Tokyo. Susie was laser focused on creating a brand known for exceptional customer service experiences. She later developed and launched Susie Council Cosmetics, NYC after receiving the National Makeup Artist of the Year award.
Susie’s background experience led to business coaching engagements, a start-up partnership in a professional photography rep agency, buying and renovating homes to flip and ultimately, a partner role in a joint venture luxury waterfront townhome and condo new urbanist development in Gulf Shores, Alabama, where she generated in-depth market and feasibility studies which determined product mix, amenity planning and sales strategy.
Susie’s eye for art and beauty, along with a keen business sense and effortless ability to connect with clients on a personal level, naturally transitioned to a career in real estate sales. Susie joined forces with the Heery Brothers at Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty in January 2017, leveraging their 25 years of experience as seasoned veterans in sales. The Heery Brothers have attained top performer status at the company since 2010, most recently as No. 1 Small Team, Buckhead Office, 2016. The team’s ultimate goal is to make the process of buying and selling your home memorable, seamless and financially advantageous.
Susie has a son who attends Georgia Tech on a scholarship and a daughter who is a high school honor student at Mt. Paran Christian School. She has also served as team leader for Mt. Paran Christian School programs and volunteered her time for community outreach, as well as a myriad of other civic and charitable organizations. In her free time, Susie is drawn to extreme sports: competition water skiing, white water kayaking, snow skiing and has been a competitor in the cycling disciplines of road racing, cyclocross and national mountain bike racing. Susie has been riding the trails of the North Georgia Mountains for over 20 years, has owned property in Blue Ridge and is extremely knowledgeable about the entire region’s real estate market.
