Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a time to celebrate the life and civil rights achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and to reflect on his beliefs of love, justice and equality. It is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January in honor of his birthday, January 15. He is most well-known for his nonviolent campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the United States.
