Monae McKelvey has an eye for sound design and architecture, a heart for what makes a home function and her finger on the pulse of the real estate business. She began her career as an agent’s assistant and transitioned into agent services at her previous brokerage, providing administrative support while earning her license. The knowledge and insight she gained while supporting agents helped her immensely when she became one herself. After obtaining her license, she worked on the buyer side of the business as part of a team and then in 2020, she made the decision to go out on her own.

In an industry filled with personable people, Monae stands in a class by herself as a truly relational agent — communicative, courteous, positive, genuine and concerned for her client’s well-being. She treats clients and colleagues like family. As someone who’s been through negative experiences with real estate agents herself, she believes in being a balanced, supportive presence. Never pressuring her clients into a decision, she strives to be a sounding board and a voice of experience, offering honest feedback and providing wise counsel.

What she loves about this career is the chance to be a part of clients’ stories, whether it’s helping a retired couple live next to their grandchildren while making more money on their home than they ever dreamed they could or getting the fulfillment that comes from helping someone purchase their first home. To her, the relationships last far longer than the transactions. With creativity and empathy, Monae has helped many people relocate to the Atlanta area from other parts of the country and found that she has a talent for working with clients needing remote assistance.

As a dedicated wife and mother, making a house a home is an integral part of who Monae is. She and her husband Jacob (whom she has known since high school) have two teenagers, Jayce and Melaina, who attend Mountain View High School. She grew up loving architecture and home design, fascinated by the way all the elements work (or fail to work) together, with a sense of style and color and function, and is attracted to an eclectic mix of styles. She still loves to drive around and look at homes and is thrilled that she gets to do it for a living. When she’s not working with clients, Monae is involved with Love Atlanta and participates in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
