If you have not visited downtown Alpharetta lately, you might be wondering what all the buzz is about. Nearly unrecognizable from its humble beginnings, the few forgotten blocks of sleepy shops and restaurants have been transformed into a vibrant destination spot attracting visitors from all over metro Atlanta. The crown jewel and social nucleus of this new hot spot is the award-winning Alpharetta City Center (ACC), a 26+/- acre mixed-use development created in partnership with the City of Alpharetta. Once nothing more than a few 1960s-era strip malls, a gas station, underused low-rise buildings and numerous parking lots, the ACC replaced these all but forgotten parcels, seamlessly extending the downtown historic district by six blocks and adding more than 50 new shops, restaurants and hotels.

Designed to incorporate the existing historic buildings and trees with replications of buildings that sat on the site in the 19th century, downtown Alpharetta’s architecture artfully blends old with new, creating a cityscape bursting with modern spaces that combine southern charm and sophistication with historic character. Now home to Alpharetta City Hall, Fulton County Library, 74,000+/- square feet of retailers and restaurants, 36,000+/- square feet of office space and a mix of luxury apartments, townhomes and single-family homes, it is the ideal spot to shop, eat, live, work and relax. There are even several greenspaces, including the five-acre Brook Street Park and the one-acre Town Green to enjoy.

So if you are looking for a chic new area to explore, put downtown Alpharetta at the top of your list. If you have not visited in a while, you will likely not recognize where you are. From local retailers and chef-driven restaurants to pedestrian-friendly pathways and inviting green spaces, there is a lot to see and do. There is even an open-container policy, so grab a cold drink as you stroll through the shaded parks and enjoy the outdoor gathering and dining areas. As an added bonus, it is located minutes to the Atlanta BeltLine-style Alpha Loop, which provides easy access to Avalon, another popular shopping and dining destination spot.

A short drive from downtown Atlanta and conveniently located less than two miles from Exit 9 off GA-400, getting to downtown Alpharetta is a breeze. And like so many that come for a visit, if you find yourself yearning to call this thriving community home, be sure to check out the numerous housing options nestled within the City Center and tucked along its neighboring streets, including these vibrant properties situated close to the action.
