Garden Hills, “The Garden Spot of Atlanta,” or so it was referred to by developer P.C. McDuffie Co. when it began marketing the project in 1925, is one of the premier family neighborhoods in Buckhead.

The 450-acre development sits conveniently between the two major Buckhead thoroughfares of Peachtree Road and Piedmont Avenue.  It consists of mostly single family “period” homes along with architecturally significant apartment buildings originally meant to create a buffer between the single family homes and Peachtree Road.  Mature hardwood trees blanket the neighborhood creating a true canopy among the rolling topography.

The neighborhood was developed in three stages, Peachtree, Country Club and Brentwood. Peachtree was the first phase of the development with the first five homes being built on Rumson Road in 1925 and 1926. These first homes were larger homes built in the Tudor style.  Into the 1930s, homes were more modest in size but still featured Old English architecture, Dutch Colonial design and English Tudor style.  The Country Club phase is home to the Garden Hills Pool and Playground, which are still very active today, and a highlight of the neighborhood.

The average home in Garden Hills sits on a lot between one-third and one-half  acre, has three bedrooms and  2½ bathrooms and sells on average for around $600,000. Home buyers can expect to find homes for sale between $275,000 and $1,800,000. Homeowners are attracted to Garden Hills for its true community feel enveloping every amenity within walking distance including housing, parks and playgrounds, schools, churches, and commercial destinations.  Click here for an up-to-date view of homes available for sale in Garden Hills.
