Buckhead Atlanta (formally Streets of Buckhead) to Submit Its First Plans

From The Patch Buckhead
Once called the Streets of Buckhead, the recently rechristened Buckhead Atlanta will submit its first set of architectural plans to the city for approval within 10 days.

During a Thursday media briefing, the project’s developers said the massive, yet often stalled, development is on track to break ground next spring.

J. Hunter Richardson, development director for Oliver McMillan, which took over as the project’s developer from Ben Carter Properties, said the project is “10 days away from submitting a special applications permit to city of Atlanta planning officials.”

If approved, the developers would then apply for a special development permit for transportation and other public works issues. Then comes the actual construction permits, which, at the soonest, would be approved by next spring.

Oliver McMillan President Paul Buss said the company has already invested $300 million into the project, and anticipates spending $300 million more.

The developer has also brought in Chicago-based landscape and architectural firm Hoerr Schaudt to oversee the project’s streetscape and landscape designs.

Oliver McMillan closed on the project as its developer only four months ago, and Buss said the company “has faced a big challenge in taking over such a massively scaled project.”
