Festival: You’ll find a little corner of Greece in Marietta this weekend with Greek food, dances and folk crafts at The Marietta Greek Festival through Sunday at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
Film, festival, food: Enjoy Atlanta’s favorite food trucks and live music before the film screening Friday at the Cans Film Festival. On Saturday, the event will expand into a full day of activities with food, an artist market, lawn games and kids’ activities before the featured film in Atlanta’s Historic Fourth Ward Park.
Music: Funkfest 2012 features New Edition, Erykah Badu, SWV, Raheem DeVaughn and more at Wolf Creek Amphitheater.
Stage: In Dad’s Garage’s “Winner, The Story of You,” an audience member is selected to be the star of the show, a scripted/improvised hybrid that will tell the story of their life from infancy to adulthood and even into the future. It continues through May 19.
Stage: The lives of a young couple take a sharp turn when the husband is diagnosed with a terminal illness and the wife, desperate for money to pay for his care, devises a clever scheme that goes horribly awry in “Bonneville Love,” a dark comedy by local playwright Raymond Fast. the Polk Street Players production continues through May 19 at St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta.
Stage: Michael Frayn’s Tony Award-winning play “Copenhagen” was inspired by a meeting between physicists Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg in 1941. It runs through May 20 at Academy Theatre in Avondale Estates.
Music: Macon’s own Jason Aldean will bring his country rock sound to Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood, along with Luke Bryan on Friday and Saturday.
Stage: Snellville’s New London Theatre presents John Cariani’s romantic comedy “Almost Maine.” The show runs through May 27.
Stage: Horizon Theatre Company stages the world premiere of “The Waffle Palace: Smothered, Covered and Scattered 24/7/365,” a new play by by Larry Larson and Eddie Levi Lee. It opens runs through July 1.
Stage: “Doubt, A Parable” is the latest production from OnStage Atlanta in Decatur. The show continues through June 2.
Stage: “The Story Of My Life” is a musical about the power of friendship. The Atlanta premiere is presented by Centerstage North and runs through May 19 at the Art Place-Mountain View in Marietta.
Stage: The Atlanta Shakespeare Company takes a break in its chronological run through the Bard’s comedies to take on “Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales.” It runs through May 27 at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.
Stage: Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville stages Ken Ludwig’s country club-set farce “The Fox on the Fairway.” It runs through May 27.
Stage: Center for Puppetry Arts presents a new take on “Peter Pan” adapted and directed by Michael Haverty. It runs through May 27.
History, visual arts: “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” is an updated version of an exhibit that had an earlier run at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. It features more than 200 artifacts recovered from the wreckage of the ill-fated ocean liner. See our preview of the show, which is on view at the Premier Exhibition Center at Atlantic Station.
Festival: Grab a turkey leg and take a trip back in time with the knights and maidens of the Georgia Renaissance Festival. The fest continues through June 3 in Fairburn (just off of I-85 at Exit 61).
SATURDAY
Music, festival: The Tunes from the Tombs event turns historic Oakland Cemetery into a music venue with Peter Case, the Whiskey Gentry, AM Gold and many more rock, folk, Americana, jazz and classical artists on Saturday and Sunday.
Food: Taste of Douglasville is a free event at O’Neal Plaza, Campbellton and Church streets in Douglasville.
Festival, food: St. John Chrysostom Melkite Catholic Church on Ponce de Leon Avenue in Atlanta hosts its Annual Mid-East Food Festival with food, pastries and refreshments at noon. Admission is free.
Festival: Enjoy arts, music, food and children’s activities at the Canton Festival of the Arts in Brown Park.
SUNDAY
Festival: Romanian Spring Festival at Saints Constantine and Helen Romanian Orthodox Church in Lilburn. Admission is free.
Food: Sample the Flavors of Forsyth at the Forsyth Conference Center in Cumming. Admission is free.
