Co-Chaired by Jenny Pruitt, Dancing Stars of Atlanta raises nearly $500,000

The Alzheimer’s Association’s Georgia chapter recently hosted Dancing Stars of Atlanta, a fundraiser in which 10 high-profile Atlantans were paired with 10- professional dancer to perform in a competition with judges. Held at the Lowes Hotel in Midtown, the event raised nearly $500,000, and proceeds were allocated to programs and services for the more than 200,000 Georgians affected by Alzheimer’s disease as well as their families and caregivers. It was co-chaired by CEO/Founder of Atlanta Fine Homes, Jenny Pruitt as well as Joanne Truffelman.

Prominent community volunteer Duvall Fuqua, who was paired with professional dancer, Joshua Ingraham, won the People’s Choice Award for personally raising over than $150,000. Performing an exciting Quickstep and Lindy Hop combination, Dr. Sandra Fryhofer, a physician and clinical associate professor at Emory University School of Medicine and national TV medical consultant, and her partner Jonathan Doone won the Judges’ Award for Best Dancing.

Jenny Pruitt, who was a Dancing Star in 2011 raised over $50,000 for the cause. Jenny is passionate about supporting this organization and educating others of this devastating disease, “Dancing Stars aim is to support the programs and services provided for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as their families and caregivers. Presently, someone develops Alzheimer’s every 69 seconds, and this disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the country and the only one that is increasing. Without your support, the Alzheimer’s Association will cease to aid those who are affected by this devastating disease.”
