Brookhaven Becomes Georgia’s Newest City-previously listed

At the stroke of midnight on Monday December 17th, Brookhaven officially became Georgia’s newest city.  DeKalb County voters approved Brookhaven’s cityhood this summer with 55% approval, the slimmest margin for the influx of new cities that have recently popped up since 2005 including Dunwoody, Milton, and Johns Creek.

So far it’s been business as usual, as DeKalb County police control to patrol the streets and business liceneses must be had from county offices.  The population of around 49,000 makes it the largest city in DeKalb county.  The new city is appealing for a wide demographic and with a variety of shopping, retail, and recreation areas such as the Town Brookhaven  development, Capital City Club, and Village Brookhaven, growth will continue at a steady pace.
