1. Chastain Park

Why does Atlanta love it?

Those who live outside of the Chastain Park neighborhood know its park as a great place for big-name concerts under the stars at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre, but there is so much more to it than that. Located in Buckhead, Chastain Park has trails, tennis courts, ball fields, picnic pavilions, playgrounds and it is even home to the North Fulton Golf Course.

2. Grant Park

Why does Atlanta love it?

When most Atlanta residents think of Grant Park, they think of Zoo Atlanta, home to over 1,500 and 220 species of animals, including two rare giant pandas. Surrounding the zoo, you will find plenty of green space, rolling hills that are a favorite with young children, great spots for a picnic, a pool, swings and a basketball court. The park is surrounded by beautiful historic homes in the recently revitalized and walkable Grant Park neighborhood.

3. Piedmont Park

Why does Atlanta love it?

Often referred to as “Atlanta’s Central Park,” the 189-acre Piedmont Park offers something for everyone. Rent bikes or skates or simply walk along the miles of paved paths, have a picnic or take advantage of one of the 22 grills along the lush green lawn or bring the kids along to enjoy the modern playgrounds. The park also features tennis courts, softball and soccer fields, volleyball courts, a fishing lake and much more. There is even an off-leash dog park. Each year, Piedmont Park hosts some of Atlanta’s top events like the Dogwood Festival and Music Midtown.

4. Candler Park

Why does Atlanta love it?

Candler Park is the ultimate neighborhood park and is especially popular for parents of young children who are looking for a place where the kids can get some fresh air. It has playgrounds for children of all ages and abilities, as well as plenty of open green space where your imagination can run wild with impromptu games of soccer and hide and seek. Bring a lunch along and enjoy one of the comfortable picnic pavilions.

5. Historic Fourth Ward Park

Why does Atlanta love it?

The Old Fourth Ward has become one of Atlanta’s top neighborhoods over the last few years, and one of its most popular attractions is the Historic Fourth Ward Park, the first park built along the Atlanta BeltLine. They playground is a favorite for neighborhood kids, and the splash pad is perfect for those hot Georgia summer days. The 17-acre site also has its own skate park.
