Autumn Colors Hike
Join the City of Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Department and the National Park Service for an autumn hike through the forest and along Powers Branch, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River. Our walk will take us through the oak-hickory forest with its red cedars, along the creek, and past wondrous macro-habitats supporting an extraordinary diversity of wildlife. We will take a macro-safari and learn about the abundant wildlife, plant life and hear a fact, fable or two about early settlers.

2010 Atlanta Half Marathon & Thanksgiving Day 5K (Turner Field) – Need a sure fire way to keep your waistline in check this turkey season? Why not start your day running in the Atlanta Half Marathon or the Thanksgiving 5K? And since the holidays are all about family, this year they are offering a Mashed Potato Mile Kids’ Fun Run and the Drumstick Dash! Registration fees and start times vary depending on the race so be sure to check out their website. Make sure to register early as space may be limited! Act soon because online registration ends Nov. 21st! Those who finish either Marathon will receive a long sleeved t-shirt and commemorative medal. Run wild for a great cause at the 7th annual Gobble Jog on Thanksgiving day in Marietta. The event benefits MUST Ministries and takes place in historic Marietta Square and features a 10K run, a 5K run/walk, a 1K run/walk, and a tot trot (for kids 5 and under). The Gobble Jog 10K is certified as a qualifier for seeding in the Peachtree Road Race and the U.S. 10K Classic.

There is a pre-race carb-up dinner and packet pick-up on Wednesday, November 25. The packet pick-up is from 3pm to 7pm and the dinner is from 5pm to 7pm at the Marietta First United Methodist Church, Family Life Hall. Dinner is $8 per person, and children 11 and under are free.
