A favorite holiday tradition for over 20 years, The Marietta Pilgrimage is a Christmas Home Tour showcases 6 private historic homes all lovingly restored and decorated for the season.  This year the tour will feature homes in the Northwest Marietta-Kennesaw Avenue Historic District as well as a number of Historic Public Buildings will be open for tour. 

This Saturday and Sunday Marietta, Georgia beckons you come by for a visit- this charming  area features some magnificent historical homes as well as a lively town square- reminiscent of days gone by- with hometown favorite restaurants, cafes, theaters  and antique stores galore.  This weekend you don’t want to miss the Home Tour.  The tour is very walkable but there will also be shuttle service available. The shuttle bus picks up at Mill Street & the railroad tracks outside the Marietta Welcome Center.  

Parking is available at the free lots off Mill Street and at the Cobb County Parking Deck off Cherokee Street. There is street parking available around the Square, but it fills up quickly.  The tour is self guided and tickets are available at the for either Saturday or Sunday, and candlelight tour tickets are not transferable to the day tours. Ticket information is available here.  Please note due to the nature of this tour that children under 8 are not permitted.

Bistro at the Brickyard gives guests an opportunity to warm up and enjoy refreshments during the tour. It is conveniently positioned along the tour route and will be held at The Brickyard at Marietta Station, 129 Church Street.

Other events in Marietta this weekend:  

On December 2 Santa will arrive in the Square and will help host the Holiday Tree Lighting. The giant Christmas tree will light up the night at 6pm and local choruses will provide entertainment. Santa will visit in the Square until 8pm. For more information call (770) 794-5601. The Pilgrimage weekend, December 4-5 also marks the opening of Santa’s Workshop on the Marietta Square.  The Marietta Pilgrimage began in 1987, founded by the Cobb Landmark Society and the Marietta Welcome Center.  Jim Glover  was the first chairperson and was, at that time, on the board of directors for Cobb Landmark Society and was the chairman of the board for the Marietta Welcome Center.  He have been a house chairman each year since its inception. As a Marietta resident Jim has very involved with the Marietta community including serving on the board s of organizations such as: Glover Park Restoration Committee, Marietta Rotary Club, Kennesaw Museum, Friends of the Strand and many others.
